TARON

Tarons live in the northern most regions of the Union of Myanmar. They are the shortest in stature and the smallest in numbers. Tarons are also the least developed of all the nationals of Myanmar.
Tarons are one of the Rawang stock and the first Taron who ever set foot on the Central Myanmar plains was in 1964, at the Union Day Celebrations held in Mandalay.
In 1962, a medical research team from the Medical Research Department led by Dr. Mya Tu went on an expedition to these Taron areas and did a detailed medical research. The authorities later published the findings of this expedition. As the Tarons mainly live on the icy mountainous regions of northern Myanmar, they are unaccustomed to live in the hot and humid regions of the plains. Tarons were never seen at Union Day Celebrations after 1964.
